Why your gel is lifting (and it isn't the polish)

Lift is almost always a prep issue, not a polish issue. Here are the four things to check before you blame the gel.

01 · Cuticle oil applied right before the appointment

Oil on the nail plate at appointment time means the base coat doesn't bond. Skip the morning oil on the day of your set.

02 · Hand cream day-of

Same problem, slightly different molecule. Cream leaves a film. Wash hands at the studio if you applied cream — or just skip it day-of.

03 · Free-edge contact with hot, soapy water in hour one

If a tip lifts at the free edge in the first day, the bond at the tip never seated. Hot water in hour one is the usual cause. (See: First 12 hours.)

04 · Picking. Just — picking

A lifted corner becomes a missing nail because we picked. Text us a photo and we'll repair within 7 days for free. Past that it's $8 a nail.
